A non-profit social enterprise providing free money advice and education to disadvantaged groups, ethnically diverse communities and young people in London.
Money A+E is a East London based, non-profit social enterprise committed to providing vital money advice and education to disadvantaged groups, diverse ethnic communities and young people. Our mission is to give people a fair chance at building financially stable futures, breaking the cycle of poverty, and transforming their lives.
46% of children from diverse ethnic backgrounds live in poverty, compared to 26% of White British children.
People from ethnically diverse backgrounds are nearly twice as likely to face unemployment and more likely to be stuck in insecure, low-paying jobs.
People from diverse ethnic backgrounds are 72% more likely to be affected by benefit sanctions.
People with disabilities and mental health issues are also more likely to fall into poverty, exacerbating their vulnerabilities.
These figures tell a clear story of exclusion, inequality, and the cycle of poverty many communities face daily. Systemic discrimination, coupled with financial exclusion, has left these communities at a significant disadvantage—one that won’t change without intervention. That’s where Money A+E steps in.
We offer free expert money and debt advice, crisis grants, and financial literacy workshops to families and individuals and together break the cycle of poverty.
Equipped with the right knowledge, people can make informed decisions, build sustainable budgets, and achieve long-term independence. These benefits extend beyond finances, improving mental health, reducing stress, and cultivating stability for future generations.
Since the start of the cost-of-living crisis in 2021 we have supported 11,373 people in London's most deprived boroughs, where poverty rates are among the highest in the UK, including families living on deficit budget and NHS staff on low pay bands. Our advice clients gained over £3M, we managed £11M in debt. 77% of workshop attendees now feel more confident managing their finances.
