Milford on Sea Village Community Centre was opened on 3rd September 2010 by representatives of each generation of village residents - signifying its ambition to be able to offer something for everyone. Ten years have seen the Centre’s activities grow to include almost every type of exercise class, play and poetry readings, music lessons and singing groups, art classes, a playgroup, youth club, a meeting place for stroke survivors and those with Alzheimers, as well as lunch groups and a wide variety of entertainment events.
The Community Centre is proud to provide our extraordinary village with outstanding live entertainment, regular screenings of Opera, Ballet and Theatre from all over the world,
movies and a huge variety of group activities.
Sadly our 10th anniversary cannot now be celebrated in usual Community Centre style but the Trustees are marking the anniversary with a Challenge, a souvenir (see below) and an appeal - £10 for 10
(see donation options on right of this page).Decade 10x Challenge
! Open to all ages, the Challenge is to make something with 10 items or do something 10 times. This may be making 10 Anniversary cupcakes, or dancing for 10 mins, running/walking for 10km or 10 miles, doing 10 press-ups, making a flower arrangement using 10 flowers/plants, composing a 10-line poem, writing down 10 memorable events you have attended at the Centre during the past decade, or anything else that inspires you! All that is needed is a photograph, or sheet of paper for written material, which will then be put on Centre’s website. At the end of September, the Trustees will select two winners – under and over 16 years old, who will receive a special prize – details of how to enter are on posters in the Village and on our website www.moscommunitycentre.org.uk
. It is hoped this Challenge will be fun and will inspire residents of Milford on Sea and the surrounding area. Anniversary Booklet
We have produced a potted history of the last 10 years at the Centre, from the construction of the building, to memories of events and some comments from the many volunteers. It is available at the Charity Shop and the Community Centre (weekday mornings only). Price 50p!
