Music Relief Foundation (MRF) is a grassroots charity based in Croydon that supports children, young people, and families through music, creativity, and wellbeing programmes. Since launching our Music School in November 2021, we have helped young people flourish through weekly lessons, collaborative band practice, and our vibrant twice‑yearly Soirées. We also support families facing hardship by securing Jack Petchey Award funding, ensuring every child has the chance to grow and thrive—regardless of circumstance.

Through our Music School, launched in November 2021, we have witnessed a remarkable transformation. Many young people joined us shy, anxious, or without access to musical opportunities. With consistent support, their confidence, creativity, and sense of belonging have grown. Our first cohort—including complete beginners—went on to pass their ABRSM Grade 1 exams. Others found their voice performing at our Summer and Winter Soirées or discovering teamwork and expression through band practice.

In 2025, we joined the Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme and proudly nominated six students for funding to help families struggling with the rising cost‑of‑living crisis. We now regularly nominate young people, ensuring finances never block their musical potential.

Your donation helps us keep lessons affordable, provide instruments, widen access, and give more young people a safe, inspiring space to belong, learn, and thrive.

Since the music school launch, MRF has delivered more than 100 music lessons, welcomed over 250 students through our doors, launched our biannual Soirées in July 2024, introduced collaborative band practice, registered with the Jack Petchey Awards in 2025, and nominated twelve young people so far—supporting them to build confidence, develop skills, and overcome barriers.
