Malmesbury | Community Support & Development
We undertake a wide range of work in the community including: consultations; supporting and setting up voluntary and community groups and promoting volunteering; giving advice about fund-raising, publicity, and use of new media; and providing practical support for Wiltshire Council initiatives. Our work is widespread and growing. It focusses upon community development, health, amateur sport, the relief of those in need, environmental protection and improvement, the arts, culture and education.
Why the community needs usThe core costs for running MVCAP are supported by a grant from Wiltshire Council's Malmesbury Area Board but we need donations to fund our projects. You donation can contribute to the development of new walking trails, pay for hosting meetings where the public can talk directly to the Police about priorities and concerns, or could help support new imaginative initiatives from our environmental group Transition Malmesbury.
Our impact on the communityAchievements in recent years: Ran a public consultation and published the Malmesbury Area Community Plan, helped Malmesbury Town Council run a survey on speed bumps; held a public meeting about local transport; assisted local clubs with publicity, fund-raising, and setting up websites; set up the Malmesbury Bridges Walk and published the walking guide; had a Really Really Free Market stall giving away things at Petticoat Lane; hosted many community safety forums.
