BASINGSTOKE | Community Support & Development
Supporting independence in older people: car lifts to get out and about, befriending, community cafés, handy person and gardening jobs around the home.
Five activities: Driving Service: accompanied car transport to and from hospital, GPs, dentists, social and exercise clubs, shopping. One-to-one befriending visits providing companionship and reducing social isolation. Weekly community cafés in three venues across Basingstoke with information events when other specialist charities offer advice for older people.
Handyperson and Gardening service: simple home maintenance tasks, including identifying other remedial work we could help with. While gardeners have a break for a chat, an opportunity to talk over issues, helping the mental health of our clients. Both services enabling older people to remain in their home much longer, living longer better. With our 130 volunteers we support around 1,090 older people.
