Helping to keep people independent and included in their communities.
Basingstoke NeighbourCare is a voluntary organisation that offers support and assistance to those in genuine need throughout the Basingstoke area. With volunteer drivers we assist older, infirm people to safely get to medical appointments, go shopping and socialise. Our vulnerable clients trust us to be with them and are greatly cheered by the companionship that a befriender can provide. Why the community needs us
Social isolation is very depressing and with an ever growing elderly population we help by providing volunteers to assist clients to do what they would be unable to do by themselves. Transport and accompany to medical appointments, trips out to visit a loved one, the library or just shopping. We also provide a befriending service for lonely and isolated members of the community, where our volunteers visit clients, read to them, take them to older persons or disabled clubs or other activitiesOur impact on the community
Social inclusion and the ability to go out and about improves wellbeing and encourages and active life, keeping mind and body in better shape. This encourages vulnerable and lonely elderly folk to join in with the wider world and maintain an interest in living independently and actively.
Drivers with own car available 2 hours a week or more to take clients to medical appointment for example. Befrienders to visit client once a week. DBS check required. Travel expenses reimbursed.
