Nkiru means 'the best is yet to come'.Focusing on all aspects of The Arts, embracing all forms of 'The Arts' to compliment people's lives keeping people fit, active and portray disabilities in a positive light. Nkiru runs community African & Dhol Drumming Groups for fun and public performance. Sessions are totally inclusive and we encourage a mix of abled and disabled. Our groups are made up with over 60's, people suffering with mental health issues, people with long and short term illnesses.
Why the community needs us
Learning African Drumming and Dhol Drumming is great fun. Drumming in a group has proven health benefits and enhances mental and physical health. Drumming keeps both the body and mind fit and active without the stress of running a marathon. We perform and run workshops at local and charity events.
Our impact on the community
Our workshops and performances are colourful lively and entertaining to participate in and to watch. Our drummers really enjoy giving pleasure to others and in doing so promote hidden disabilities in a very positive light.
