The Northamptonshire Ironstone Railway Trust has been in operation since 1974 and provides museum and equipment rolling stock associated with the Ironstone history of the area. Quarrying ceased on the site in 1921. Currently trains run at weekends and special events through the country park.The Trust is totally supported by volunteers and provides weekly opportunities for disabled and socially excluded members of the community who maintain the track rolling stock and buildings around the site.

Why the community needs us

As well as providing a visitor attraction The Trust provides vocational training and volunteering opportunities for disabled and social excluded member of the community. This is through the various weekly activities projects it runs. Conservational activities within the railway compound, gardens and country park.That provide both a safe and an aesthetically pleasing country park for visitors as well as create and providing habitat management for all the wildlife fauna and flora living there

Our impact on the community

The various project run by theTrust and its associated partners enables disabled and socially excluded members of the community to take part in vocational training on a weekly basis.This provides everyone with a range of meaningful activities to met individual needs and ability. Equipping them with a range of skills, enabling, empowering them with the sense of achievement team work, health and wellbeing developing skills and work ethic needed for employment By Building on Ability .
