The Northern Citrines Jazz Band was formed and based in Shildon Co. Durham, which is an urban deprivation area. We are a voluntary non profit organisation. we encourage all members (children and young adults) to work as part of a team building effective relationships with one another and promoting the playing of musical instruments. We have an active committee and volunteers who have fully enhanced CRB checks. Our aim is to provide an affordable out of school activity which builds confidence.

We host an annual carnival in Hackworth park in Shildon for other bands to compete which is an open venue for the local community to attend, this also brings trade to the town. we aim to provide an activity that differs from others in the area and which keeps children occupied and free from hanging around the local community actively working against antisocial behavior. We participate in local carnivals representing shildon.

over the ten years that the band has been running we have successfully received grants for the purchase of our initial assets and running costs these were all fully achieved and other than these grants the committee, volunteers and members try hard to fund-raise to remain as self sufficient as possible but with increased running costs and the need to update certain instruments we are seeking help and support through donations on this webpage.
