Grimsby | Health & Wellbeing
A community farm for all ages to enjoy, spend time in nature and with the animals improving health & wellbeing.
Nunny's Farm is a community farm located on the Nunsthorpe Estate in Grimsby, known locally as the nunny. We are located on an old school playing field of 5 acres, surrounded by houses and in the heart of the community.
The farm began its journey in 2019 and has faced many challenges since then with the pandemic, flooding, bird flu and regular storm damage but we are a resilient bunch who care deeply for the animals in our care and for the community we serve.
Since we opened in 2021 we have:
* Welcome over 25,000 visitors annually, from families to community groups, the elderly, isolated or excluded, who can meet and feed the animals and engage in fun, educational experiences
*Taken in many unwanted pets and abandoned animals, creating a safe haven for them to live and see out their days in a loving environment.
* Offer work experience for over 25 students a year, with over 50% identifying as having additional support needs.
* Support volunteer opportunities for over 100 people a year, of those 64% in 2023/24 were unemployed, and 72% identified as individuals with additional needs.
* Host students in EOTIS packages who have lost their desire or ability to thrive in mainstream education.
* Run mental and physical health and well-being programmes within the local community.
* Offer guided experiences for school children: 1,237 children from 38 different schools benefited in 2023.
*Deliver outreach programmes to the local area and support many charitable and fundraising events in the local community.
*Host local groups, parties, tours and interactions with our animals and in the gardens for visitors to enjoy the relaxing feelings associated with fresh air, reduced stress and improved mental and physical health.
Our farm is for everyone to enjoy and we hope for ever
