'On The Edge' was set up to help advance, improve, develop and maintain public education in and appreciation of all aspects of fusion music, for young musicians and others. We do this in various ways - as public events, workshops, and training, alongside special projects that help to promote music making to a wider audience.
Why the community needs us
Times are hard, and charities like 'On The Edge' help to bring opportunities to participate in culturally diverse projects while increasing music education and development for under 25's in the Birmingham region. 'On The Edge' has helped to inspire a new generation of audiences who are energised and excited by local young musicians, and it's this that creates more chances to enrich the cultural diversity of Birmingham in areas that are often excluded from cultural activities.
Our impact on the community
'On The Edge' develops music making groups for young people to gain skills in performing diverse music, bringing a sense of local achievement and improved wellbeing to all participants. The charity provides long term, inclusive progression routes for young musicians and a creative teaching and learning environment for students and professional musicians. There are also opportunities for cohorts of young artists to acquire a broad range of management skills through volunteering.
