OSAC was set up as a result of identifying there was a huge need to support vulnerable, disadvantaged individuals for a number of reasons namely language/cultural barriers, females not feeling safe accessing current services and limitations in accessibility. The purpose of the charity is to empower individuals giving them a better chance to maximise their income so they can live an independent life.Giving everyone a chance to be heard and to be helped regardless of culture, religion, gender.

There are a number of advantages of this project, the feedback so far has been females feel comfortable at explaining their problem, they are at ease to access this service from different outreach sessions. They are able to convey the issues in their spoken language and are given advice back in their spoken language. Problems are resolved from the very first appointment, no time is wasted, a good rapport is built which means the issues don't have to be repeated as the advisor knows individuals.

Have helped maximise over 200 clients income since the launch of this initiative in October 2013,Have supported more than 100 clients seek and get legal advice in different areas of law.Clients have claimed benefits, made appeals, request for reconsideration, make Repayments plans, Seek advice in relation to housing matters. This project has made a positive impact on many individuals from our local community and will continue to make a difference if there is funding to sustain it.
