OSCA - Making a first class facility -
- 1st phase success - now floodlights for a bright future
The purpose of our foundation is to build a Sports & Community Arena at Four Fields Ovenden by 2013.
The Arena will be a ground-breaking sports and community facility for Ovenden in North Halifax. Ovenden is a particular area of need and is within the worst deprived 5% in the Country with fewer individuals taking part in physical activity than anywhere else in the district.
This community sports partnership will therefore:-
-engage the whole community, from the talented to those taking part
Why the community needs usThe area of benefit is the most disadvantaged in the district which will benefit by;
- working collectively to bring about social change and justice with communities in the local area of Calderdale, in particular Ovenden and surrounding areas
- promoting learning activities aimed at
health and well-being
- organising participation in all forms of
physical activity
- support the operation of sustainable multi
sport facilities that is concerned with a
range of sports and activities
Our impact on the communityOur last Localgiving.com match donations provided the final funding for the £100K Multi Use Games Area. Work will commence next week and completed at the end of July 2012. OSCA's theme for the Localgiving May match is to raise the final funding to provide a new floodlighting system for the £61K pitch improvement which will start this July.
This will allow us to maximise the use of the facilities for the community in the evenings, especially in the dark winter months
OSCA is a partnership of sport and activity organisations contributing to the first class outdoor sporting facilities at Ovenden Sport and Community Arena,North Halifax.
The Foundation is always seeking volunteers to support young people and children taking part in rugby league, football and other activities. Each of the organisationa have clubmark Gold or chartermark which is the quality mark of good junior sport provision. We offer progression from little or no experience to a national coach.
