Otley Action for Older People (OAOP) is a long established and successful community based organisation working on behalf of the older population of Otley, Pool and Arthington . We are part of the Leeds Neighbourhood Network Schemes (NNS’s) and registered under charity number 1150584.
OAOP was established as a result of community need. A Management Committee of local people, including older people who are representative of the local community, manage the organisation, as well as professionals from outside bodies. There is also representation from local councillors. These members bring a broad range of knowledge and experience to the organisation.
We have 6 full time members of staff and our work is supported by 100 volunteers who are trained and experienced at working with older people. Our volunteers engage in a wide range to tasks and activities to ensure that our work is carried out to a high standard and meets with our Mission Statement and Vision.
We provide direct support to over 1200 members, to enable them to live independently, safely and healthily, through the provision of a wide variety of activities and services. We provide practical and emotional support, E-learning and health & wellbeing support and engage with many other organisations to ensure that we fulfil our commitment to develop activities in relation to the demand of our members. We are particularly committed to providing services for members with Memory Loss, and their carers.
There are many benefits to being a member of OAOP, hopefully our website will illustrate many of them. Possibly the best benefit is – MEMBERSHIP IS FREE!!!!
