Strength Academy Wales is a not-for-profit social enterprise improving health, wellbeing and community through inclusive strength and weightlifting programmes.
Strength Academy Wales
Pembrokeshire Weightlifting, known as Strength Academy Wales (SAW), is a not-for-profit social enterprise improving health, wellbeing and community connection through strength-based physical activity.
We deliver inclusive programmes for people of all ages and abilities across Pembrokeshire, helping people become stronger, healthier and more connected. Our sessions do far more than improve physical fitness - they reduce social isolation, build confidence and self-esteem, and support positive mental wellbeing.
Working with health professionals, community organisations and local partners, we deliver programmes for unpaid carers, people living with Parkinson's and older adults, children and adults with physical and learning disabilities, women and girls, young people, and people from disadvantaged and under-represented communities. Many participants join through social prescribing and community referrals.
Alongside our health and wellbeing programmes, we provide opportunities to participate and progress in Olympic Weightlifting, Para Powerlifting, Special Olympics Powerlifting and Strength & Conditioning. From complete beginners to international athletes, everyone is welcomed and supported.
Our volunteers, coaches and partners are at the heart of everything we do, helping us create opportunities that genuinely change lives.
Our aims are to:
Improve physical and mental wellbeing.
Reduce social isolation and promote community connection.
Encourage healthy, active lifestyles for people of all ages and abilities.
Support people to live healthier, happier and more independent lives.
Provide inclusive opportunities to participate and develop in strength sports.
Every donation helps us keep our community programmes affordable or free, train volunteers, purchase specialist equipment, and support more people across Pembrokeshire to improve their health, wellbeing and quality of life.
