Provide free, independent confidential and impartial advice to the people of Pembrokeshrie
Our twin aims are to provide the advice to the people for the problems they face and change the practice and policies that affect their lives. Pembrokeshire Citizens Advice provides free,confidential and impartial advice to Pembrokeshire residents on subjects that include debt, benefit, employment, housing and immigration. We rely on volunteers to help us to provide the service, in return they gain useful skills via a structured training programme; travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Why the community needs usWe have built strong links with Job Centres & libraries across the County where we have delivered support to clients helping with their job seeker commitment, Universal Job Match account &CVs. This assistance has ensured that the unemployed, vulnerable & digitally excluded within our community are not discriminated against.We have taken referrals from Pembrokeshire County Council to provide personal budgeting support to Universal Credit claimants and those who are under threat of homelessness.
Our impact on the communityIn 2016-17 we advised over 5,300 clients and dealt with over 15,500 issues. 47% of all enquiries were regarding welfare benefits and 20% Debt. 43% of all welfare benefits enquiries concerned PIP and 16% Employment and Support Allowance.1,100 clients sought advice about PIP, 380 were assisted with claims and 531 challenging decisions.
