Petworth Community Garden: food and therapeutic projects grown by the community for the community
We provide an accessible, non-judgemental, supportive, and nurturing learning environment that celebrates people's abilities - enabling local people on low incomes to come together in our wheelchair accessible, organic community garden.
We run sessions accessible for any ages or needs, including:
Grow Your Own: learn sustainable gardening practices, and share free, fresh food.
Plot To Plate: cook cheap and healthy meals from the harvest.
Men's Shed Petworth: create beautiful, unique, rural craft pieces.
Thriving Thursdays: benefit from social and therapeutic horticulture.
Harvest Food Boxes - getting fruit and veg to families in food poverty
Why the community needs us
Petworth is a rural town with a significant divide between the wealthiest and the poorest. Often seen as wealthy, with high house prices and expensive antique shops, it is actually designated as an area of Rural Deprivation - with many low income households that live here needing to use the food bank.
