Strengthening families and their community by helping them to lead productive lives
Pyramid Health and Social Care Association (PHASCA) is a registered charity which was established n 1999 to promote the psychological, physical and social well-being of socially excluded communities in the London Borough of Haringey. The charity's aim is to provide a range of needs-led services of optimum quality to enable marginalised members of the community to make a positive contribution towards the wider society.
Why the community needs usWe provide a youth group twice weekly engaging over 30 young people in positive activities and away from Criminal activity and Gangs. We provide a Saturday school to 45-60 children and young people every week some who are struggling to keep up with Peers at school. We run a counselling service "Space to talk" that supports those that are in need of Psychological and emotional support and have seen over 40 people since it was set up October 2011.
Our impact on the communityWe have been running our youth group for over 8 years meaning we have engaged approx 200 + young people aged 12-18 yrs. In relation to our Saturday school the majority of children and young people that attend English is not their first language and so the support that they received has an impact on their confidence, self esteem and educational attainment. In relation to counselling service we are funded by Big Lottery to particularly engage the hard to reach we have achieved this targets
We are always looking for volunteers that can assist in our Saturday school which runs out of Marcus Garvey library. We are always looking for administrative support someone available 2-3 days a week with some experience and IT Skills would be helpful.
