Pleasant Pastimes engages a group of older people, who identify and exchange skills and experiences of traditional crafts. This is a new way of learning, by sharing knowledge and meeting the need to keep minds and hands active. The group meet weekly and visitors are welcome.
Why the community needs usWe help preserve the proud heritage of textile skills in Calderdale. Meeting at Bankfield Museum or King Cross Library,on Thursdays 10am - 12pm, establishes a routine which is important to those who have retired. We increase community cohesion by enabling old and young to learn together. Occasional expert led workshops and trips to textile exhibitions augment the existing skills of members.
