Why the community needs usTo inform members of any changes in policies that effect our older people with regard to Health, Local Government, Transport. Social benefit for members to meet with like minded people. As we live in a Rural/Urban Community and it gives people the oppertunity to get out and about. At various times during the year we organise bus trips to places of interest also a Christmas Lunch.
Our impact on the communityWe started with a group of 12 people and now have a regular number of 50+ attending our meetings. We campaigned the local council to increase the Television Licence subsidy from £15.00 to £30.00 per year for over 65's. We were involved in the design of our new Flagship Care Centre for Northumberland. We also attended the local Tranport Meeting re: the local bus service.
