We are a community group working to improve the skatepark in Porthleven

in 2016 we successfully opened Phase 1 of Porthlevens new skatepark after two years of fundraising. The park has been an overwhelming success, it is constantly in use by all ages and abilities. There was always a plan to build a Phase 2, we have the land available and now seems the perfect time to push on and get job done.

Why the community needs us
The COVID pandemic shut down our efforts to build Phase 2, but it also showed the need to expand the park. When people were able to get outside and gather socially distanced, the park suddenly seemed crowded and it was obvious there was need to provide more room for the users of the exiting facility.

Our impact on the community
Since the original build in 2016 we have seen a community form, anyone that watched the coverage of the skating at the Tokyo Olympics would have witnessed the skating community and how skaters support and encourage each other, skaters celebrate each other success but importantly support and encourage when things dont go quite so well.
