We support Transmen and other gender variant 'female to male' people and their families. We run support groups and events such as camping weekends and conferences open to all Transmen, gender variant Female to male people and their families in the UK. We are the only charity to do this so we are a vital source of support for people just starting to come to terms with their gender variance as well as for people who have been transitioned for some time. We publish a magazine 3 times a year.
Why the community needs usWe offer opportunities for normally isolated people to come together, and experience friendship, gain confidence and knowledge about their condition. People often want to transition, to live their lives as men or to try living a life closer to gender neutrality. They may seek medical and surgical intervention or counselling to try to reconcile their minds to a body that does not feel authentic. A successful outcome leads to fulfilment of potential personally and as a productive member of society.
Our impact on the communityThe 'trans' community is one of the most disadvantaged in civil society. We risk abuse because we look different but trying to conform can lead to serious psychiatric illness or suicide attempts. As a self help group we've offered help and support to hundreds of Transmen. Many look forward to our events because it's the only time they can mix with similar people. It helps people shed fears and anxieties, gain confidence and stand proud. Success means we need to look further to fund projects.
