Great news. Radio Plus has been awarded a Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, an MBE for volunteers
Radio Plus is a community radio station that's run by Christians, working in partnership with local churches and organisations to bring a fresh message of hope and a life worth living to Coventry and the surrounding areas. Radio Plus aims to appeal to 16-35 year olds in Coventry with a vibrant and positive approach to radio.
Why the community needs usWe inspire our listeners toward service within the community, making healthy lifestyle choices. We signpost 12,500 listeners per week, aged between 16 and 35, towards services that can support them in Coventry. We profile projects and events from across all sectors in the city. The Routes to Employment project specifically addresses high youth unemployment in Coventry by providing training for young people aged 16-24, referred by our partner agencies. We continually see their lives transformed.
Our impact on the communityWe reach over 16,000 listeners (16-35 years old) each week and have supported over 75 young people into employment or further training on our Routes to Employment Media course. We profile over 150 local community, voluntary, charitable organisations per year. By connecting organisations together, many new local people-support projects have emerged. Radio Plus costs £120K/year to run, so please continue to support us as we work towards 30,000 listeners a week by 2020
