We are a local cricket club who next year has been operating for 150 years (yes 150)! We have around 150 adult members and 60 junior members and have 3 senior, 4 junior, 1 Sunday and 2 works teams. We are hoping over the next 4 years to develop the club as we are in desperate need of on and off field facilities. The purpose of this 4 year development plan is to increase the usage of our club by young and old from within and around our community and make our club a social hub for all.
Why the community needs usThe benefit to the community is split into 3 parts. Part 1 is to encourage more of our young people to play cricket instead of roaming the streets at night. This will teach them team spirit and a sense of community well being. Part 2 is to increase the amount of players that play in our senior teams. This has been a hard challenge over the last 4-5 years and through development we hope to increase this. Part 3 is to allow our local community to use our club as their own ie birthday party's etc.
Our impact on the communityWe already see the positive impact sport has within our community especially with the amount of young people we now have socialising within the club. Most of them want a safe, dry and warm environment with activities to keep them occupied. We are with everyone's help looking at upgrading our facilities on and off the field; on field we are looking at an outdoor all weather training facility with access for all. Inside we wish to make the club into a function facility for long term sustainability
