RSG provides regular opportunities for children with Autism Spectrum Conditions (and their carers/parents) to regularly meet to engage in activity that will assist to develop the children in social interaction, friendships, building confidence and independence, empowering them to achieve their goals based upon their own ability and to achieve their potential. RSG provides children with Autism opportunities to integrate with friends and local communities, thereby assisting to remove isolation.
Why the community needs usResearch indicated that there were no After-School or School Holiday Activity Clubs, specifically for children with Autism, in the South Monmouthshire area. Ready Steady Go was introduced in January 2018 to fill this gap; catering for young children between 3 and 11 years, and their carers, who meet each week. Such has been the benefit for the children that in 2019 a second Club will be introduced to cater for children between 11 and 14 years, which will meet monthly.
Our impact on the communityDue to safety restrictions attendance at regular RSG Club Sessions is restricted to 12 (+ siblings and carers), but our external trips, activity and special 'play' sessions caters for any number depending on the venue/activity. Our members are able to take part in activity and experiences that they would not normally be able to enjoy, which assists their development. This removes isolation for carers and children, introducing them to activity that other children, without Autism, reguarly enjoy.
