The need

This pandemic has exposed the digital divide that exists across our society. 4 million adults have never used the internet, more than half of which are over the age of 75, with disabled people, ethnic minorities and those from lower economic background being disproportionally affected. Without access to the internet that would enable them to see their friends and family, an appropriate device to access essential services or, in the case of schoolchildren, complete their homework, millions in our communities are left isolated, lonely, and vulnerable.

What we do to help

Ready Tech Go bridges the digital divide, through supplying new and donated digital devices such as tablets and laptops to members of the community who could not otherwise afford them, regardless of their background, and technical experience. We also aim to offer a data-service, getting people online in some cases for the very first time!

By connecting people to the outside world, through the use of technology we aim to;

  • Encourage connectivity with friends and family
  • Enable access to specific online support groups
  • Empower young people with a plethora of online educational materials
  • Equip adults with online bill paying, benefit access and shopping
  • Encourage physical activity, with digital guidance
  • Ease feelings of boredom and isolation

Thus wellbeing and mental health are boosted as a result and the results can be life-changing

Who we work with

We are proud to work with well-rooted referral partners across Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea, and the City of Westminster. Our referral partners include; Barons Court Project, Bishop Creighton House, Masbro Elders Project, North Kensington Community Kitchen, Outside Edge Theatre Co, River House Trust, Shepherds Bush Families, Solidarity sports, West London Welcome and W12Together.

Those we select to work with are experts in their field, including child poverty, loneliness and isolation, and more. This is the best way we can respond to urgent immediate needs.

Our impact so far

During this pandemic we have donated devices, including laptops and tablets, to over 30 Londoners young and old from all backgrounds.

We have also launched a project in partnership with W12Together in Wormholt and White City in Hammersmith. The Gift of Connection project will see us supporting 30 or more older people, by providing them with a device and internet connection, thus improving their mental health and well-being during this challenging festive period.

Some quotes from our beneficiaries include;

"I have been given more than just a piece of tech - I've received a most generous gift of help from a group of people who care. This has already boosted my mental state and will undoubtedly contribute towards my well-being, quality of life and future prospects"

"I'm enormously grateful to Ready Tech Go.... I bow to the donor(s) who made this possible via their care and practical support. I have many reasons to be happy"
