ROK is a registered charity which works with schools, pupils and parents to help realise the goals and aspiration of young people. We work with key partners and provide hands-on information about careers and how to succeed in different professions. This information is delivered direct by professionals and business people who attend our schools to share their stories about how they were able to make it in their respective fields. Most of the people involved in ROK come from modest backgrounds.
Why the community needs us
Our intention is to positively impact on the lives of children and young people to help them be the best they can be. ROK is made up of diverse professionals and business people, but we work with children of all races. We hope to inspire kids to go out there and grab their chance at really excelling in all that they do. Through our examples, we hope to turn them away from a life of deprivation and discrimination or, at the very least, changing their mindsets in respect of what they think they can achieve into doctors, lawyers, pa's, business men and women of the future.
Our impact on the community
ROK currently supports three schools, where we organise and present at least 8 careers workshops and 4 industry days, with a reach of between approximately 600 students per year. To date we have worked with ten schools across London, delivered over 50 ROK Careers Programmes (including Industry Days) and nine ROK Mentoring Programmes. We have impacted over 5,000 school children thus far.
The outcomes are amazing. The feedback from the students has been wonderful, they have been inspired by the professionals we have working with us and seeing black and brown people in those prominent positions really inspires.
