Since our founding in 1979, we have passionately championed the rights and well-being of South Asian women and children in the West Midlands. Recognising the evolving needs of our diverse communities, we have expanded our services to offer critical support to all Black and minoritized individuals facing challenges in our region.
We are immensely proud to have our efforts acknowledged through five prestigious awards, including the esteemed Charity Times Award 2024, affirming our adherence to the Women’s Aid National Standards. Our mission resonates with purpose: to uplift women, girls, and children from Black and minoritised communities, guiding them on their paths to safety, confidence, and independence, while striving to free them from the shackles of violence and abuse.
Our vital initiatives include emergency refuge accommodations for women and children escaping domestic abuse, as well as specialised support for those with no recourse to public funds. Many in our communities remain unaware of the resources available to them, which ignites our commitment to ensuring equitable access to essential support.
With refuges strategically located in Birmingham and Walsall, we proudly operate a dedicated hub focused on addressing Forced Marriage and Honour-Based Abuse. Our comprehensive services include a 24/7 multilingual helpline and expert Independent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVAs), complemented by outreach support tailored to individual needs. Additionally, we provide therapeutic counseling, community programs for children, and training workshops designed to raise awareness and cultivate understanding within the wider community.
Together, we can continue to uplift and empower those in need, fostering a brighter and safer future for all.
