Established in 2001 by parents of 16 year old Rosie Ross following the fatal stabbing of their daughter in a random and motiveless attack in Birmingham's Centenary Square. Determined to turn their grief into something positive Karen & Sean began fundraising for Birmingham City hospital then finding a Will left by Rosie requesting some of her money be given to charity, local childen and young people's projects were included in their fundraising as a legacy to their daughter.

Why the community needs us

Rosie's Helping Hands provides resources to small voluntary groups working with children & young people, within a 15 mile radius of Walsall. With the community supporting organised fund raising events, or creating their own, the charity is able to raise enough to provide new toys, books, sports equipment, computers, or help with costs towards after school activities & educational trips. The chairty raises awareness of knife crime by Karen sharing her experience with groups of young people.

Our impact on the community

'It was brill the first time I've been on holiday I can do so much for myself now' Comment from a 10 yr old after returning from an outdoor adventure camp. 'The kids appreciate having a youth club in the village. It keeps them off the streets where they often cause a nuisance to residents.' Comment from Youth Club Leader. 'Thank you Karen for visiting us you made us think about our own personal safety as well as helping with our GSCE coursework on knife crime.' Comment from a school group.
