Sacred Earth is a community project that connects people with nature. We have a beautiful 40-acre site in Horam, East Sussex. It was once a brickworks, but we have re-wilded it, encouraging its natural biodiversity to flourish.
We run a range of courses and mentoring projects. They're all about experiential learning and building community through spending time in nature. Our latest programme is called
Wellbeing in Nature and it's designed to support young adults' mental health and resilience.

Our vision is of a place where humans work together on the land, their presence fostering the diversification of species and enrichment of the environment.
Why the community needs usWe are taking practical steps to overcome the social and ecological challenges that face our local community and its environment. These include lloneliness, nature deficit disorder, social isolation, soil degradation, tree loss and wildlife habitat loss. We want to find inclusive, sustainable, regenerative and ecologically-sensitive ways of tackling these challenges together, helping both people and the natural world. Humans, after all, are part of the natural world, not separate from it.
Our impact on the communityWe want to regenerate communities and nature. People who spend all of their time indoors are deprived of the ability to be in the real world. They don't have the chance to test boundaries, get lost, feel afraid, have adventures or enjoy the vivid feeling of being alive that we share with other creatures. Through our nature connection courses, we foster a culture of support and collaboration. Nobody's judged and - as so many have testified - they feel that they can truly be themselves.
