Why the community needs usSantos FC is a cross community multi-cultural orientated football club based in Carryduff but with strong roots in North Belfast, one of the most deprived areas in Northern Ireland. We were established in 1969 with the aim to promote and foster the sport of soccer at all levels, providing opportunities for recreation and competition. In reality we provide a far more holistic service and act as mentors, advisors and providers for a range of members many of whom suffer high levels of deprivation.
Our impact on the communityWe provide regular football training and coaching to around 50 members. We specifically try to recruit members who have faced issues in their lives and the majority of our members have faced problems such as; social exclusion, drug / alcohol problems, crime/anti-social behaviour problems, effects of suicide and rejection. Due to the nature of people that we work with there is a high turnover and we aim to improve their everyday life through giving them opportunities.
