G53 Badminton Development

A project by SAPC Community Sports Hub SCIO

G53's is a badminton club forming part of SAPC Community Sports Hub SCIO. A charity based in Greater Pollok, Glasgow South providing multi sport opportunities for young people. G53s look to offer opportunities for young people to learn badminton and to make progress so they become confident to take part in organised games against other badminton clubs.

G53s also looks to support young volunteers and young members with completing Youth Scotland awards such as, Hi5, Dynamic Youth Awards and Youth Achievement Awards all accredited by the Scottish Qualifications Authority. G53s look to support young people with their personal development by providing opportunities to work with other young people in various volunteering opportunities.

Young people attending G53's are coached by Badminton Scotland accredited coaches.

G53's are members of Glasgow and North Strathclyde Junior League. G53's members take part in competitive tournaments of singles and double matches.

G53s Badminton Club deliver free sessions on Wednesdays at Darnley Community Centre, Thursdays at St Paul's High School and Cockburn Centre, Govan, as well as taking part in tournaments at Scotsoun which is Badminton Scotland's National Badminton Academy.

The age group we support is 5 years to 19 years.

We look to develop and grow and ensure we have a presence within Greater Pollok to enable young people to attend free and/or low cost badminton sessions, have fun and make friends.

We look for your help towards covering our costs of hall hire, replacing broken and worn equipment including shuttle cocks and supporting young members and volunteers to achieve Youth Scotland awards and achieve greater opportunities for our local community.
