SARS exists to help treat critically ill or injured patients who need urgent pre-hospital care in and around Suffolk Our volunteer clinicians provide enhanced medical support to the ambulance service at the scene of serious or life-threatening incidents. These include serious road traffic collisions, cardiac arrests, serious falls, agricultural and equestrian accidents. SARS is dedicated to providing the best possible pre-hospital care in our local community.
Why the community needs usSARS is active in a predominantly rural area with long distances between hospitals. This makes a local immediate care resource particularly valuable. Our volunteers respond from their own homes which means that sometimes they can be first on scene. The skills and equipment SARS responders possess mean that they can make life-saving and pain relieving interventions which would not normally be possible outside the hospital environment. All SARS responders offer their services without charge.
Our impact on the communityOur volunteer clinicians have attended thousands of serious medical incidents since our charity was established in 1972. We have helped save hundreds of lives and provided assistance to many members of our local communities when they have been most in need. We also make active contributions to road safety and CPR awareness events specifically aimed at young people within our local communities.
