Together, we can end sexual violence - donate today
Our support is free and confidential for survivors of sexual violence living in the Scottish Borders. Our Sunrise service offers emotional and practical, support, information and advocacy for self-identifying female survivors aged 18+. Our Unity service offers emotional and practical, support, information and advocacy for all young people of any gender/gender identity aged between 12 and 18.
We offer a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental environment. Our support is person-centred and trauma informed. Survivors choose what they share with us, and do not need to talk about the sexual violence they have experienced unless they choose to. Survivors tell us that our support can be 'life-changing'. They feel stronger, they have improved self-esteem and self-worth, feel more hopeful and better able to cope.
Support Our Access and Inclusion Fund to help break down barriers that can prevent survivors from accessing vital support.
Covering a large rural area, transport is often a major hurdle. Each year, we spend around £1,236 helping survivors travel to and from support sessions.
Our outreach support sessions ensure those who can’t or choose not to travel still receive specialist support closer to home. However, these sessions involve additional costs for venue hire, staff travel, and time.
We believe that language should never be a barrier to support. Our use of interpreting services help ensure survivors can access both initial and ongoing support in a language they understand.
Childcare is another barrier for some survivors, who may struggle to find time for confidential support. Where possible, we cover the cost of registered childcare, allowing survivors to attend sessions knowing their children are in safe hands.
We also offer self-care packages of small, meaningful resources that help survivors feel cared for and supported in their healing.
