The national average of adults with a learning disability who have paid employment  is 5.9%, in Wiltshire that number falls to just 5%.

Often adults with a learning disability experience barriers to gaining paid employment due to difficulties they may have in initiating, planning and organising activities, transferring the skills they have learned and complex problem-solving.
However, there are a number of benefits when employing a person with a learning disability. Research undertaken by Mencap UK found that generally people with a learning disability have lower sickness levels, stay in entry level jobs longer saving employers money on recruitment and can increase staff team morale.

See Me Be CIO will build relationships with employers and work with adults to facilitate their access to paid employment.

Meaningful occupation, a sense of purpose and belonging all have a positive impact on an individual's mental and physical health. People with a learning disability should have opportunities to be active members of their community, both for their benefit and the benefit of others.

Our mission is to recruit ‘Work Buddies’ to enable adults with a learning disability in Wiltshire to develop their skills and achieve their career potential.
