Oxfordshire children’s charity SeeSaw has been called “The great little charity with the big heart”.

Children suffer when someone they love dies. SeeSaw supports children who are having difficulty coping with the death of a close family member or friend. The loss of a person very close to us is probably the most distressing event that any of us will ever experience, and sometimes it feels as if our emotions will overwhelm us completely.

Because volunteers give their time for nothing and several members of the small core staff are part time, costs are kept to a minimum. This means that for around £500,000 a year SeeSaw is able to provide a comprehensive service to the whole of Oxfordshire, offering:

  • Rapid response to families’ requests for advice and support;

  • Telephone advice for parents, carers and professionals;

  • Dedicated, tailored one-to-one grief support to children where it is required;

  • Pre-bereavement support for families when it is known that a parent or sibling is dying;

  • Training for professionals such as teachers and nurses;

  • A wide range of resources and literature for children and their families and any member of the community in need of information about grief support for children.

SeeSaw not government funded and as a charity and relies on donations from the local community, the corporate sector and charitable bodies in order keep its vital service going.  This is why your support is so vitally important to us.
