We support deaf and hearing impaired children living in the boroughs of Sheffield, Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham, Chesterfield and the surrounding areas of South Yorkshire. We hold regular events for children of all ages ranging from babies to age 16. These include a Youth Club, Soft play, Bowling, Snowboarding, Cinema, football coaching, Theatre, Ice skating, Picnics, Christmas & Halloween parties, Easter Egg hunts and even weekends away.

Why the community needs us

We provide impartial advice and information to worried parents. A lot of parents get worried when they are faced with a deaf child for the first time. Some of our volunteers are deaf and give life experiences and act as role models for the children. This gives parents the confidence to face the future. We provide a lot of leisure activities for children and try to remove barriers to access by raising awareness and suggesting common sense solutions.

Our impact on the community

We are really about deaf children helping them to learn, grow, laugh, communicating. This allows them find a sense of belonging and identity. Our events give the children the opportunity to meet their peers and parents and siblings can share their experiences and offer help and advice to one another. It has become successful with hearing/deaf parents socialising with each other for support on a diverse range of issues. We also work closely with Teachers and NHS Audiologists to signpost local resources.
