Our mission is to safeguard, enhance, and promote Shetland's heritage, ensuring it is accessible to be enjoyed by all. From Shetland Wool Week to environmental improvement initiatives, caring for our archaeology to heritage visitor attractions, cleaning our beaches to planting trees, and conserving our history to delivering events and learning opportunities for all. Everything we do is about caring for heritage on behalf of the Shetland community and making it accessible to all.

Why the community needs us
We have been in operation since 1983 caring for Shetland's natural and cultural heritage on behalf of Shetland and its community. Our projects, services, heritage attractions and key events help to care for our heritage and engage visitors and residents with it bringing economic, social and environmental benefits to all. Wool Week is one such example - estimated to be worth £2 million to the local economy each year it celebrates our textile heritage and supports all aspects of the industry.

Our impact on the community
Your support will help us to continue caring for our heritage and making it accessible to our community and our visitors. It will enable us to continue to plan ahead for future events and to look after our heritage sites, buildings, artefacts and archives. It will also support us to continue our work caring for trees, germinating new seedlings, restoring peatlands and monitoring and caring for our biodiversity. Any income we generate goes to caring for heritage and making it accessible to all.
