The advancement of people's education, wellbeing and citizenship through creative community dialogue. Shout! promotes dialogue within local communities, raises awareness of community concerns, encourages people to take an active part in their own communities and brings people together from all sectors of the community. We provide a supportive, safe and healthy environment for drama group activities plus guidance leadership and facilitation to enable people to explore the issue of their choice.
Why the community needs usCreating dramas about social concerns and preparing and performing the pieces highlights the issue encouraging social change. Being in the group breaks isolation and builds community, self esteem and confidence. Working across the age divide breaks down Mutual distrust between generations. We recently created & performed a play exploring Mental Health Stigma raising money for a threatened local mental health service. Other plays explored e.g.Homophobia/Teen pregnancy/Literacy/Racism/e-safety/AIDS
Our impact on the communityShout!recently opened its doors to over 18's having been a Youth Group since 1998. Over the years we have helped hundreds of young people find themselves and "Given them a Voice". Referrals from schools/social services of vulnerable young people in need of some confidence has been a constant feature of the group. Building friendships across estate or school boundaries has been really successful in providing alternative networks for troubled YP. Many have gone on to study or teach drama or film.
