For the past 30 years, Simeon has been providing an 18 bedroomed care home in Aberdeen. Our elderly residents have a range of conditions, such as dementia, learning disabilities, motor neurone disease and cancer. We are now building a new 23 bedroomed care home which will improve the lives of our residents.
Why the community needs usSimeon is a real home. Our residents take part in everyday activities such as baking cakes, picking flowers from the garden, setting the dining tables and going to local concerts. Maintaining and developing new interests is so important. For instance, we have 3 residents learning to play the piano and 4 residents who have painting classes. At Simeon, old age has meaning and significance and we follow Swift's words "May you live all the days of your life".
Our impact on the communitySimeon is a unique care home. As we are one of the independent Camphill charities, some of our carers and nurses live on-site alongside the residents. Simeon is a place where old age is honoured and we do all the normal things that any family does. And we support our residents until their dying day, with family at their bedside. Each passing is a special and unique time to celebrate both life and death.
