Sixteenfeet has been producing site specific promenade theatre since 2008. Re-imagining classic stories for a new generation. We embed the stories within the natural settings of walled gardens, parks, and green spaces. This introduces children to an accessible theatre experience as well as to the beauty of the natural environment. The setting becomes the world of the play within which we use props, costumes, and live music to tell our stories. The synthesises of original music and lyrics combined, with the fresh storytelling of a new-minted script, imaginatively delivers the core and spirit of the stories for a modern, family audience. Actor musicianship is at the heart of what we do. The casting reflects the diversity of our city, and we also seek to reflect this through our creative team. We have developed an appreciative and loyal audience base throughout London.
Sixteenfeet collaborates with writers, musicians and actors to produce original work in a contemporary and inventive way in non traditional spaces. It is central to our ethos that the shows we produce are accessible and affordable to all in our community.
Our Lambeth Voices Programme works with all sections of the community, increasing participation in, and access to, creative opportunities. We work in partnership with Brixton Youth Theatre to deliver a programme of free workshops for young people from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
