We work with disabled and non disabled people of all ages, regardless of previous dance experience. Our projects and classes are designed for open access and are low cost to ensure everyone can afford to attend. We seek to challenge the public's perception of what dance is and who it should be for. We profile the extraordinary achievements of ordinary people and celebrate diversity and inclusion.
Why the community needs usBy participating in a creative activity we find many people have improved well being and increased levels of confidence. They discover new talents and are able to develop them alongside professional artists. Our work provides the opportunity to perform and to appreciate dance in an entirely new way. But it also provides people the chance to join a creative process with a unique group where everyone is supported and feels safe to contribute.
Our impact on the communityEvery year over 500 people from ages 5 to 95 benefit from our projects. In July our youth dance company, based at The Brit School, was selected to represent London at the national youth dance festival, U.Dance 2017. Later this year SLiDE will be part of a projection of moving images on tall buildings throughout Croydon town centre in collaboration with Double Take Productions.
