At SCTS our main aim is to enable members of the community to access the local amenities. Our services are are aimed at physically & mentally disabled people as well as vulnerable or older people. We have a fleet of 15 adapted minibuses to transport members who cannot access the community independently. We transport our members to local day centres, lunch clubs, hospital appointments, visits to family & friends, local shops and we provide day trips that all members can attend.
Why the community needs usOur members are unable to safely access public transport & are unable to fund the use of taxis thus leaving them housebound. Many of those we work with experience low income as a result of being reliant on state benefits and the impact of their disabilities. SCT uses charitable donations to subsidise door to door accessible transport for these people. This service enables residents to continue to attend groups, activities, sports facilities and places of worship within their local communities.
Our impact on the communityAlot of people we serve would not be able to leave their house if it wasn't for our service. Most of our members are long standing members and frequently comment on how our service is a lifeline to them. Our Summer day trips book up instantly and often we are needing to provide further buses in order to cater for everyone to attend. The staff build up great rapports with all of our members and for most of our members we are the only faces they see on a regular basis.
