Slough | Community Support & Development
Slough Furniture project (Homemaker) aims are to collect and redistribute good quality household items at low prices to people on low incomes; to provide opportunities for volunteers and the unemployed, and to contribut to a reduction in waste through recycling.
Why the community needs usHelping improve community cohesion joining together those that have with those that do not. The perfect marriage. Reducing Door step lending. We also help to improve our environment by reducing the amount of household items going to landfill or flytipped in our streets. We also closely support elderly and disabled people with tasks in their home.We are also running a HELP4U project at present in the Britwell area to help over 65's and disabled people with jobs in their homes.
Our impact on the communityReducing debt, improving community cohesion and reducing the amount of household items going to landfill. Strengthening communities by uniting the age groups, we have gained some vital knowledge from retired people such as French Polishing, Carpentry, that we can pass on to our volunteers who we hope in turn will pass on to another generation.
