To relieve the needs of carers and families of children and young people who suffer from epilepsy. Providing emotional support for families.
Why the community needs us
Families who have just had a diagnosis of epilepsy in their children often feel lost, isolated and alone. We are their support through a very rough time. Our group is made up of families who have and still are experiencing the rollercoaster of emotions which comes with diagnosis. Our Epilepsy Specialist Nurse is on hand for help and advice. We meet regularly, provide minor respite services, provide outings, loan equipment including epilepsy alarms.
Our impact on the community
The people who use our service say we are a vital service which has turned many of their lives from scared and abnormal, to hopeful and normal again. Kelly - "It's great to have somewhere to talk privately about epilepsy and ask for advice and have that support. I also think that the group does a great deal to raise awareness and educate people." Emma - I cannot over state how important ...the group has stopped me feeling isolated and alone."
