Providing recreational gymnastics and trampolining for children and adults with a disability.
We aim to provide coaching and training in gymnastics and trampoline activities for people with a range of disabilities in the Milton Keynes area.We have been a registered charity since 1995 and have successfully developed the enthusiasm for gymnastics for people with a range of disabilities - learning disabilities such as Down's Syndrome; physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy; sensory disabilities such as hearing or sight loss; and disabilities related to being on the autistic spectrum.
Why the community needs usSNUGS aims to provide gymnastic activities for individuals who might otherwise find it difficult to access. Many of our gymnasts have the enthusiasm to participate and need high staffing ratios to enable this. Our coaches need additional training to be effective in supporting our gymnasts to achieve at their own level.
Our impact on the communityGymnasts benefit by achieving at their own skill level and thereby raising their self-esteem. Families benefit because their gymnast has a safe and nurturing activity to pursue and the social contact benefits the whole family. Through the participation in local, regional and national competitions the perception and understanding of disability improves.
