Following discussions in local youth club management committees during 1993 and 1994, and as a result of local concern in Blidworth and Rainworth about the changing needs of some young people, the initiative was taken to set up a detached youth project. We work across the Nottinghamshire area, working face to face with young people to change lives and improve life chances. Detached youth work sets out to contact young people who do not use traditional provision and to offer them support. In 2019 we changed our name to the Social Action Hub, which we felt better represented the range of provision we deliver in local areas that includes: Play-schemes, youth clubs, A Foodshare Scheme, employablility support, tackling Isolation, reducing food-waste, conserving natural spaces and habitats, information advice and guidance, training and education support, volunteering, work experience and supporting health and well-being.
Why the community needs usWe provide a safe environment for vulnerable people, children and young people from Blidworth and Rainworth and surrounding villages. They have access to free food, mentors for one to one support sessions, help with homework, youth engagement activities, learning courses and a place to develop new skills. For over 25 years we have empowered local people, through social action, to create and run projects and fundraisers that benefit the wider community and have a lasting impact.
