At The Social Action Hub, we bring people together to make a real difference in our community. Since 1993, we’ve supported vulnerable adults, families, and children in Blidworth, Rainworth, and nearby villages, tackling issues like food poverty, mental health, and isolation. What began as a youth project to address the lack of opportunities after local pit closures has grown into a nationally recognised, award winning, independent charity offering a wide range of services.

In 2019, we became the Social Action Hub to reflect our expanded work, including play-schemes, youth clubs, food-waste and food insecurity initiatives, employability support, and health and wellbeing programmes from. We re-distribute 135,000 tonnes of food waste each year (22.5 Elephants), saving 67 Tonnes of C02 green house gases from entering the environment; conserving natural spaces, and providing training and volunteering opportunities. Our mission; to make a real, positive difference right here, where it matters most.

Over the past 30+ years, we’ve empowered thousands of individuals through social action, mentoring, employment help, skills training, and personal development. Our CEO, Claire Penny, was honoured at the King’s Garden Party in May 2023 for her 30-year commitment to education, skills, and voluntary work, highlighting our lasting impact.

We continue to grow, reaching more people than ever. Our projects reduce isolation, promote mental wellbeing, and help individuals develop new skills. Through strong partnerships, dedicated volunteers, and community involvement, we’ve become a trusted hub for positive change. From conserving natural spaces to running training programmes, we’re building a brighter future for everyone in our community.

Our charitable objectives are simple: to create a stronger, happier, and more equitable, healthier community where no one faces poverty, or struggles alone.
