SOCOPS aims to provide social opportunities, recreational and educational activities for children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and their families. Our objectives are to provide positive experiences to children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Conditions and their siblings through a structured programme of activities both in a youth club setting and in the community, in order to boost their self-esteem and confidence, and improve the lives of the families.

Why the community needs us
Socops runs a weekly social group for families living with autism and 2 distinct groups benefit, autistic young people aged 8-23, siblings and parents or carers. The group provides an opportunity to engage socially in fun and new activities, and combat the isolation from society that many such families experience.Socops is embarking on a new project to support the older group of young people to develop independence, improve life skills and practice social communication skills in the community

Our impact on the community
The Socops group provides a safe place for young people with autism to experience social opportunities, try new activities and skills and make friends. Siblings can share in the fun and Parents and carers are able to meet with other families who experience the same difficulties and frustrations as themselves;it is a time to network, share ideas and support one another.Parents are better equipped to cope, young people with autism improve their confidence and skills and siblings make new friends.
