Somersham Nature Reserve Group work with Somersham Parish Council and Cambridgeshire County Council to manage the Local Nature Reserve. We aim to: - preserve, protect and monitor the biodiversity of the nature reserve. - encourage public access to the nature reserve for the health and well-being benefits of the local community. - provide educational opportunities and information for the local community, particularly children, schools and youth groups.

Somersham Nature Reserve provides good quality greenspace, essential for the health & wellbing of urban communities, so with it being situated in the centre of the Town it provides an ideal place for local families to relax and walk in whilst enjoying the local wildlife. Our group works to raise awareness of the reserve and promote it as a place to relax in beautiful natural surroundings. We promote its educational value to a wide range of local groups including schools and youth leaders

We now have 6.3 acres of land under active management for the benefit of wildlife, heritage and the local community. Our nature reserve supports locally important species of birds including bullfinch and other birds, as well as nationally scarce flowers. We have 40 Friends that support our work. In 2012 we will hold 6 separate events for local people.
