Weston-super-Mare | Housing / Homelessness
A hand up, not a hand out. Supporting people who are disadvantaged, vulnerable or homeless in Weston-super-Mare.
Somewhere to Go has been open since 1999 and we officially became a Charity in 2000. We offer a warm, welcoming and safe place for people to visit. We serve 30 to 40 meals each day, including a free breakfast and a hot lunch that costs only £1.00. We never waste food and no-one ever goes away hungry. We provide showering facilities and clean changes of clothes to those in need as well as recreational activities to take peoples mind off whatever is going on for them. We offer medical care to people with the help of Sirona Care & Health nurses. We work closely with other services across north Somerset to achieve the best for individuals we are working with.
Why the community needs us
We work with people who are the most marginalised and disadvantaged in the community. we work with people with issues such as: homelessness, offending behaviour, mental health, substance misuse, poverty and social isolation. Without us these people would have no place else to go. We work closely with local Council's and the police and have been told by multiple services that the town is a safer place when the day centre is open.
Our impact on the community
We support people to have a better life and to work through their issues in a prosocial manner. We work with multiple agencies to reduce antisocial behaviour and improve the image of the town. Without us, people would have nowhere to go.
